Its mid-green foliage is striking thanks to its unusual shape, seeming to mimic the delicate shape of a fishtail (or mermaid-tail!) with each pair of leaves. It is easygoing, just asking that you give it a bit of light, an occasional water, and lots of compliments. Okay, maybe it can do without the last one, but it can't hurt... In its tropical home, the fishtail palm can grow up to 8m high - but don't worry, as a houseplant it won't get much higher than 2m. Probably. Unless it's really happy and has loads of space to grow.
